Leeds United’s Ezgjan Alioski has reportedly turned down a new contract with the club heading towards the conclusion of this year’s campaign according to Milliyet.

It is claimed that the Macedonian international is set to sign for Turkish giants Galatasaray, with an agreement between both parties being ‘very close’.

Alioski’s current contract at Elland Road is set to expire in the summer of 2021, and it seems as though he’s edging closer to a permanent exit from the Yorkshire-based club.

The 29-year-old has made 160 appearances in total for the Whites, with Leeds now playing their football in the Premier League under the management of Marcelo Bielsa, after winning promotion into the top-flight last term.

Alioski played his part in that promotion-winning season as well, with the winger making 41 appearances, whilst chipping in with five goals and five assists in his time during that campaign.

Leeds have gone on to adjust well to life back in the Premier League as well, as they’re currently sat 11th in the table, with 11 matches remaining this term.

Alioski was used as a second-half substitute by Bielsa in their most recent match, as they fell to a frustrating 2-0 defeat against West Ham United in front of the Sky Sports cameras on Monday evening.

It was his 27th appearance of the season for Leeds in all competitions, but it seems as though his days at Elland Road could be coming to an end.

With Alioski being out-of-contract at the end of the 2020/21 season, clubs from outside of England can table pre-contract offers to the makeshift full-back before the conclusion of this year’s campaign.

Galatasaray are currently sat second in the Super Lig table after 28 matches this term, and have already dipped into the English leagues to sign players, having previously signed Mesut Ozil from Arsenal and Bright Osayi-Samuel from QPR earlier this season.

Leeds are set to return to action this weekend, when they take on Chelsea in the early kick-off on Saturday, in what is certain to be a tricky test up against Thomas Tuchel’s side at Elland Road.
