Manchester United are keen on reaching an agreement with West Ham United over a potential deal for Declan Rice according to the Evening Standard.

Rice has been an important member of the Hammers’ squad this season, and made 35 appearances in total for David Moyes’ side, as they finished sixth in the Premier League table, qualifying for a spot in the Europa League next season in the process.

A number of players in Moyes’ squad caught the eye with some strong performances this term, but that evidently hasn’t gone unnoticed, with Rice being one of those attracting interest heading into the summer transfer window.

It seems unlikely that West Ham will be willing to listen to any offers anytime soon, with Rice being set to link up with the England squad ahead of the upcoming European Championships in June.

The midfielder has been with West Ham since 2014, having previously been on the books with Chelsea during his youth career and he’ll will be hoping he can have his long-term future resolved in the near future, with David Moyes previously revealing that it would cost ‘the Bank of England’ to take Rice away from the London Stadium this summer.

But Manchester United are seemingly willing to tempt him with an offer ahead of the new league campaign, which is set to get under way in August.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side finished second in the Premier League table this term, but missed out on winning the Europa League recently, after they were beaten 11-10 on penalties against Spanish side Villarreal after a 1-1 draw after extra time.

Solskjaer is clearly keen to add to his squad in the near future, as they look to put serious pressure on local rivals Manchester City, who eased home to another league title this season under the management of Pep Guardiola.

It remains to be seen as to whether any formal bid has been submitted by the Red Devils for Rice’s services, but West Ham supporters are likely to be set for a nervy summer transfer window ahead.
