West Ham United are reportedly one of the clubs interested in signing Burnley midfielder Josh Brownhill ahead of the summer transfer window according to TEAMtalk.

It is also reported that Aston Villa, Wolves, Newcastle United, Southampton and Crystal Palace are also believed to be interested in a deal to sign the midfielder.

Brownhill has made 26 appearances in all competitions for Burnley this season, and has established himself as a regular in the starting XI since signing from Championship side Bristol City in January 2020.

His strong performances have been a rare bright spark in a somewhat frustrating league campaign to date for Burnley, with Sean Dyche’s side currently sat 15th in the Premier League table.

They’re just four points clear of the relegation zone after 28 matches this term in the top-flight, and will be keen to build on a defiant recent display against Arsenal.

They picked up a valuable point against the Gunners at the weekend, and they’ll be eager to put together a positive run of results from now until the end of this year’s campaign.

A move to West Ham could tempt Brownhill ahead of the 2021/22 season though, with David Moyes’ side currently sat seventh in the top-flight standings.

The Hammers have only lost twice in the Premier League since the turn of the New Year, and will fancy their chances of finishing in the European qualification places this season.

Whilst Aston Villa are just two places adrift of the Hammers in ninth, and they too, will be confident of putting together a strong run of form between now and the end of this year’s campaign.

It remains to be seen as to whether there is a frontrunner to sign Brownhill, although Burnley are facing a real battle heading into the summer to keep him at the club, with a number of teams rumoured to be interested in signing him.

Brownhill and his Burnley team-mates are set to return to action at the weekend, when they travel to Goodison Park to take on Everton, in what is likely to be a tricky test up against Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
